PAA SB36 - Swallow Blocking Spikes:
(Specialist product only for blocking the Rafter/Batten Gap)
The PAA SB36 model has been exclusively designed by Pest-Away Australia.
The PAA SB36 is specifically for blocking the Welcome Swallow from perching on the rafters of your verandah or deck roof (that small gap between the underside of the roof sheeting and the rafter or joist,
a gap formed by the width of the batten).
Till now, most bird spikes are just too long to fit into this 35-40mm gap (The standard bird spikes are designed for preventing landing - Hence their longer spike length and particular orientation).
The SB36 will not prevent birds from perching on open ledges (that is a ledge with no height restriction). Indeed, SB36s installed on an open ledge may actually help the small birds to roost and nest. Open ledges would require
a standard bird spike installed.
The SB36 'spikes' are actually a stainless steel post (or pin) since their purpose is to block from the side. Conversely, standard bird spikes are different and are indeed a spike (flat cut) and not like the SB36 posts.
Installation is easiest with silicone adhesive - Such as AVISIL - Since it will be difficult to screw down with so very little clearance from the Roof Sheeting. But there are pre-drilled holes in the base if you wish to screw down.
